35MM Film Photography
A slower, more intentional way to photograph the moments that matter.
I learned photography on film long before I ever worked professionally with digital cameras. At university, I photographed with a Pentax K1000, developed my own rolls and printed photographs in the darkroom. Years later, I came back to the same camera and realised how much that way of photographing had stayed with me.
Film makes me slow down. There is no screen to check, no endless sequence of frames and no need to photograph everything. I look, wait and choose the moment before pressing the shutter — and I think that is exactly what makes these photographs feel different.
FILM IS PART OF HOW I PHOTOGRAPH
I bring a film camera to my sessions and photograph a few frames alongside my digital work. It has become a small part of the experience that I really love — a few photographs created differently, with their own texture, imperfections and vintage character.
For those who are especially drawn to film, I also offer sessions photographed with a much stronger focus on 35mm, allowing the whole story to take on that slower, more spontaneous feel.
HI, I'M BARBARA,
specialist in maternity and newborn photography, based in DubaiI’ve been working professionally as a photographer for 18 years, and maternity has been part of my work for over 13 of them. Becoming a mother changed the way I see this work completely. Today, I’m especially drawn to photographing motherhood in its different stages, from pregnancy to newborn and breastfeeding, with a natural and delicate approach.
Film is another part of the way I tell these stories — one that brings me back to a slower and more intentional way of photographing.
Client Stories ON FILM
A few moments I chose to photograph on film during my clients’ sessions.
FROM FILM TO YOUR GALLERY
Because every roll has a limited number of frames, I photograph with intention, choosing the moments I want to preserve rather than trying to capture everything.
After the session, the film is sent to a trusted professional lab for developing and high-resolution scanning. For clients who prefer additional privacy, a ladies-only lab service is also available.
Once the scans are back, I personally review the photographs and curate the strongest images from the session. From this gallery, you can select the photographs you would like to keep, which are then delivered as high-resolution digital files.
A BIRTHDAY PHOTOSHOOT ON FILM
One roll. No previews, no second chances — just watching the day unfold and choosing the moments worth keeping.
ONE MOMENT AT A TIME
When I was younger, I used to wish we could photograph everything. Today, we can.
And strangely enough, film has taught me something different: photography does not need to be about capturing everything. Sometimes it is about noticing what is worth photographing.
One frame. One decision. One moment at a time.
